Olha Norba is a doctoral student at the Institute of Slovak Literature of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, working on her dissertation topic: “The Forms of the Grey Zone in Slovakia in the 1980s: Between Official and Unofficial Literature”. Her research conceptualizes the heterogeneous cultural voices of discontent during the declining state socialism as 'grey zones' and takes the prose and poetry works published in the 1980s as an example, showing increasing transformation of this critical literary scene into a cultural opposition.
