The Feminist Book Club

The Feminist Book Club is organized in collaboration of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, and the Club Booksa (Association for Promotion of Cultures Kulturtreger).
The Feminist Book Club is organized over a period of nine months (first season: October 2023–June 2024) with one meeting per month. The book club explores and discusses how the political novel shapes and transforms perceptions of gender and class in the context of 20th and 21st century world and (post)Yugoslav literature.
The reading list includes political novels and favorite titles of feminist and queer criticism, both current titles and classics of the modern novel, and is occasionally accompanied by recommendations of theoretical literature.
The book club is moderated by Mirela Dakić, a literary theorist who works as a postdoctoral researcher at the CAPONEU project, at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.
